Bridging is when a Daisy completes the steps outlined in her book and learns about becoming a Brownie.  At her Bridging Ceremony the new Brownies will get their Brownie Girl Scout Pin (many leaders put this on upside down until the scout does a good deed), World Trefoil Pin (some leaders prefer to give this pin to Girl Scouts after Thinking Day so they could already have it as a Daisy or earn it as a Brownie), Bridging to Brownie Girl Scouts Award (the rainbow), one year membership star and disc (blue for Daisies).

Daisies need to learn about becoming a Brownie by following the steps outlined.

Bridging Step 1 - Girls learn about Brownie Girl Scouting by doing one of the following:

        * Invite some Brownie Girl Scouts to talk about Brownie Girl Scouting

TIP - this is a great thing to do with Girls who may have older siblings in Brownies

        * Visit a Brownie Girl Scout Troop during a planning meeting.

TIP - set up a meeting with a troop from your school if possible, this way the girls get

to see who else is a Girl Scout at their school

        * Have girls look through the Brownie Girl Scout Handbook and the Try-its for Brownie Girl Scouts Book.

Bridging Step 2 -  Girls complete a Brownie Girl Scout Activity by doing one of the following:

         * Find out about 3 things the Brownie Girl Scouts do.

         * Complete an activity in the Brownie Girl Scout Handbook

TIP - there are many activities to do in the handbook, borrow or buy a set of books for

            the troop to use.

         * Ask a Brownie Girl Scout to tell about some of the things she does.

TIP -  this would be simple to do while visiting the Brownie troop in Step 1 or asking the

            Brownies that visit your troop.

Bridging Step 3 - Girls can do one of the following with a Brownie Girl Scout

         * Plan and carry out a service project with Brownie Girl Scouts

TIP -  plan a service project to do with a troop from your school and do something like

cleaning up school or planting bulbs for spring.

         * Go on a field trip with Brownie Girl Scouts

         * Visit Brownie Girl Scouts at one of their meetings and complete an activity with

them. TIP -  if you choose to visit a Brownie troop from step one, have the girls ask

questions in step two, then make sure you plan an activity from the Handbook or

Try-it Book to do with the girls.

Bridging Step 4 - Girl help plan their bridging ceremony. They can:

         * Work with a Brownie Girl Scout troop to plan the bridging ceremony.

TIP - make the ceremony a very special event for your Daisies, have the Brownie troop

you visited or worked with come to your ceremony and walk the girls across the

bridge to the Brownie Ring. Suggestion: Ask the Brownie scouts to come and put

on the Brownie Play for your Daisies at their ceremony, then invite them to join

            the Brownie Ring.

         * Have girls make up a song for the ceremony

         * Have girls prepare decorations for the ceremony

TIP -  choose a theme for your Bridging Ceremony, have the girls make invitations and

            decorations for the badge table.
