Exfoliating Rose Soap
Petals
Supplies needed:
One "silk" rose per person giving it too
Clear glycerin soap or olive oil soap (buy it in a 2 lb block at the craft
store)
Soap coloring
Soap scent
Tweezers (one pair per girl)
Waxed paper
Glass measuring cup
Microwave
Plastic spoon (to stir the color and scent into the melted soap) Cellophane bags
(a sandwich bag would work) Label and a way to attach it (staple or tie the bag
closed)
Take a large silk rose from the crafts store and carefully cut off all the
petals (embroidery scissors work great for this). Using a glass measuring cup,
we melted 2 squares olive oil glycerin soap in the microwave for about 40
seconds (see directions on the soap package and supervise this process so the
soap doesn't burn!). We stirred in a little bit of soap coloring that matched
the petals and some vanilla soap scent. Using long tweezers, we dipped each rose
petal in the soap until it was covered, and set it on a large piece of waxed
paper to dry. When the soap petals were cool, package them in a cellophane bag
with instructions to use one petal each time she washes her hands and discard
the petal after use.
Note: soap left over can be poured into a small soap mold.
